SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY AND AUDIOLOGY IN HEALTH CARE
Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology studies anchored in the health- disease-care process in attention to life cycles (children, adolescents, women, adults, elderly population), priority groups and actions (pregnant women, neglected diseases, chronic non-communicable diseases, infectious diseases, mental health, and oral health), and vulnerable groups (people who are homeless, poor, live in at-risk areas, and have disabilities, among others). Epistemology applied to health related to proposals focusing on the promotion, prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of speech-language pathology and audiology aspects and their relationship with related fields of study. Studies that propose investigation of community health, of normality and its deviations in the processes involving language, voice, orofacial motricity, swallowing, hearing, and balance. Interdisciplinary research in the health/education relationship at different educational levels, aiming at training researchers with knowledge and skills involving social, human, and health sciences.
