General objective: The objective of the UFSC Graduate Program in Speech- Language Pathology and Audiology in its lines of research is to train researchers, professors, and specialized professionals, promoting the production of scientific and technological knowledge from a humanized, interdisciplinary, and training standpoint for providing Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in health care.

Specific objectives

  • To provide the continuing education of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists, aiming at working in research and higher education teaching with its specificities in health in the broader context;
  • To promote critical analysis of technological innovations aimed at the diagnosis and speech therapy rehabilitation through evidence-based investigative methodologies; To foster the capacity to elaborate and develop programs for training, planning, and implementing Health and Education policies involving Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology based on a critical view of social reality with innovative practices;
  • To promote scientific production related to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and related areas, articulating research at different levels of health care;
  • To develop research that promotes actions related to prevention, promotion, diagnosis, and rehabilitation in the areas of voice, swallowing, orofacial motricity, language, hearing, and balance.
